What we treat

Substance use and addiction

Problems with alcohol, opioids or other drugs that keep getting in the way of health, work, school or relationships.

Common signs

  • Using more, or more often, than intended
  • Trying to cut back without success
  • Cravings, or feeling unwell without the substance
  • Problems at home, work or school because of use

Co-occurring disorders

A mental health condition and substance use happening at the same time. Each can make the other harder, so we treat them together.

Common signs

  • Using alcohol or drugs to cope with anxiety, low mood or memories
  • Mental health symptoms that get worse with use
  • Past treatment that focused on only one problem

Depression

More than a bad week. A low mood or loss of interest that lasts and makes everyday life hard.

Common signs

  • Sadness, emptiness or hopelessness most days
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Changes in sleep, appetite or energy
  • In young people, irritability is often the first sign

Anxiety

Worry, fear or panic that’s hard to control and starts shaping what you do and avoid.

Common signs

  • Constant worry or a sense that something bad will happen
  • Panic attacks, a racing heart or trouble breathing
  • Avoiding places, people or school
  • Trouble sleeping or relaxing

Trauma and PTSD

The lasting effects of frightening or painful experiences, such as violence, loss, abuse, war or displacement.

Common signs

  • Unwanted memories, nightmares or flashbacks
  • Feeling on edge or easily startled
  • Avoiding reminders of what happened
  • Feeling numb or disconnected

Bipolar disorder

Mood swings between periods of very high energy and periods of depression, beyond ordinary ups and downs.

Common signs

  • Times of unusually high energy, little need for sleep, or racing thoughts
  • Risky decisions during high periods
  • Periods of deep low mood

ADHD

Ongoing trouble with attention, focus or impulse control that affects school, work or home.

Common signs

  • Trouble focusing or finishing tasks
  • Restlessness, or acting before thinking
  • Losing track of things and time

Behavioral problems

Defiance, anger or disruptive behavior that keeps causing trouble at home or school.

Common signs

  • Frequent angry outbursts or arguments
  • Refusing rules or requests from adults
  • Repeated trouble at school

Depending on your needs and age, care may include individual, group and family therapy, Intensive Outpatient for adults, Day Treatment for children and teens, case management, and psychiatry and medication management.
